How It Works

Trust-building through clarity

What Baseline does

Baseline helps you understand patterns in your IBS symptoms by:

  • Tracking daily logs (symptoms, stress, sleep, triggers)
  • Learning your personal baseline (stable vs flare)
  • Identifying what's associated with changes in symptoms
  • Running structured experiments to test specific changes
  • Generating plain-English summaries for doctor visits (Pro+)

What Baseline is not

Baseline does not provide medical advice.

  • Not a diagnosis tool
  • Not a treatment plan
  • Not a replacement for professional care
  • All insights are based on observed associations in your logs

Always consult your healthcare provider for medical decisions.

Stable vs flare explained

Your baseline is your normal pattern. After 7-14 days of logging, Baseline learns what "stable" looks like for you.

A flare day is when symptoms are notably worse than your baseline. Baseline compares your flare days to stable days to identify patterns.

Insights explained

Insights show what factors appear associated with your flares:

  • Severity insights: What's linked to worse symptoms
  • Flare insights: What's present more often on flare days
  • Confidence levels: Based on how consistent the pattern is

All insights use non-causal language like "associated with" and "appears to" based on your data.

Experiments explained

Test one change at a time:

  1. Define what you're changing (e.g., "Eliminating coffee")
  2. Log as normal during the experiment
  3. Baseline compares before vs during periods
  4. See clear conclusions about whether it made a difference

This helps you avoid unnecessary restrictions and focus on what truly matters.

Health Summary + PDF (Pro+)

The Health Summary feature creates a professional report of your patterns:

  • Plain-English summary of symptoms and patterns
  • Formatted PDF suitable for sharing with doctors
  • Includes baseline, insights, and experiment results
  • Export history for tracking over time

This helps you communicate clearly with healthcare providers without overwhelming them with raw data.
